‘Ghayal Once Again’ earns Rs 24.10 cr in its 1st weekend

Sunny Deol’s ‘Ghayal Once Again’ opened on a decent note and gained momentum over the weekend and raked in a total of Rs 24.10 crore in its first weekend.

The film which is a sequel to his 1990 blockbuster ‘Ghayal’ earned Rs 7.20 crore on its opening day, Friday, February 5. The collection saw and escalation on Saturday bringing in Rs 7.65 crore. The film’s business improved further on Sunday with Rs 8.40 crore.

The three days box office collection of ‘Ghayal Once Again’ stands at Rs 24.10 crore. It is the second best collection of 2016 after Akshay Kumar’s ‘Airlift’ which had minted Rs 44.3 crore in its first weekend. ‘Wazir’ and ‘Kya Kool Hai Hum’ follow with Rs 21.01 crore and Rs 20.15 crore respectively as their first weekend collection.

The film has also performed better than some of the actor’s last films like ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2’ and ‘Singh Saab the Great’ with first three days collections at Rs 21.5 crore and Rs 15.3 crore respectively.

‘Ghayal Once Again’ fared well at single screens compared to multiplexes. The film continued its good run in mass circuits like central India and Punjab, known to be Sunny Deol’s strong belts.

The film is Sunny Deol’s second directorial venture after his 1999 film ‘Dillagi’. It is said that the actor has mortgaged his studio to make and release ‘Ghayal Once Again’ and the success of the film is very important for him.
