Gautam Gulati to play Ravi Shastri in biopic ‘Azhar’

Television actor and ‘Bigg Boss 8’ winner Gautam Gulati is all set to make his Bollywood debut with the film ‘Azhar’ starring Emraan Hashmi.

The handsome hunk will reportedly play the role of former cricketer Ravi Shastri in the biopic based on former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin.

Confirming the news, Gautam told news wire PTI, “Yes, I am doing the film, but I am not allowed to speak anything. I can't talk about the project in detail.”

Emraan Hashmi will portray the eponymous role of Azharuddin in the biopic being directed by Tony D'Souza. The film will portray all major aspects of the cricketer’s life, including his second marriage and the match-fixing scandal in 2000.

Actresses Prachi Desai and Nargis Fakhri will reportedly play Azhar's wives Naureen and Sangeeta Bijlani respectively.

The biopic is being produced by Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor and Sneha Rajani under their banners Balaji Motion Pictures and MSM Motion Pictures.

The first look of ‘Azhar’ was unveiled in May this year and the film is slated to release on May 13, 2016.

Gautam had worked in television dramas like ‘Kasamh Se’, ‘Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani’ and ‘Diya Aur Bati’ before participating in eight edition of the reality show ‘Bigg Boss’, which catapulted him to fame.

He has also appeared in a short film titled ‘Darpok’ and is currently hosting the show ‘MTV Big F’.
