Gautam Gulati to play Ravi Shastri in ‘Azhar’


Gautam Gulati, winner of ‘Bigg Boss 8’ will make his Bollywood debut with Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Azhar’. The biopic is based on the life of former cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin and Gautam who is eager to make a mark in Bollywood will play the coveted role of a fellow cricketer Ravi Shastri.

As per report, Gautam has already started preparing for the role. He has been watching lots of videos of the cricketer turned commentator and trying to acquire his mannerism and style. He is also hitting the gym to get his physique. Gautam Gulati is also practicing loads of Ravi Shastri's shots including his famous so called 'chapati' shots.

Confirms a source close to the project, “Yes, Gautam will be playing Shastri whose friendship with India’s former cricket captain, Mohammed Azharuddin is an integral part of the film. He has been working on his physique for the past month so he looks more like a young Ravi Shastri. He has also been attending workshops and viewing interviews and videos of Shastri to try and imbibe his personality.”

Very few were aware that Ravi Shastri and Azharuddin share a great rapport. The film will throw light upon their incredible relationship.

Directed by Anthony D'Souza, ‘Azhar’ will star Emraan Hashmi playing he lead role of Mohammed Azharuddin whole Prachi Desai will play the role of his second wife and actress Sangeeta Bijlani while Nimrat Kaur will enact the role of Azhar’s first wife. 'Azhar' will unveil Azhar involvement in match-fixing, his second marriage and lots more.

The film is slated to release on May 13, 2016.
