Freida Pinto glams up Cannes in pink Gucci

Freida Pinto shot to international fame with the multiple Oscar winning film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. Since then her films have failed to make the same impact. But nonetheless she has made a niche for herself and her appearances in various prestigious events keep her in the limelight.  This year’s Cannes Film Festival also saw her make several appearances at different events. Though exactly not a Bollywood personality, she is much sought after by the Indian media. But will she be able to hold her own alongside style icon Sonam Kapoor? Let us see now.

Freida’s made an appearance on the red carpet during the screening of the film ‘The Homesman’. For the occasion she wore a strapless high/low hem gown, designed by Oscar de la Renta. It was coral colored with gold motif. Her hair was tied in a sleek ponytail and she did not use any lip stick. Add to that metallic pumps and smokey eyes and her pretty look was rounded off.

Earlier in the day she attended another event. It was the premiere of the film ‘Saint Laurent’. For this occasion she had chosen a gown by designer Michael Kors. The light champagne colored gown was very eye catching with its sequin and feather design. However there were some who did not like the feathered look of the gown. To accompany the gown, she sported a wavy, side parting hairstyle and vibrant red lip color. There is bound to be some comparison between Freida and Sonam because another Cannes favorite Aishwariya was not seen this year due to a flight delay.

This is not the first time that Freida has made her presence felt at the French Riviera. In 2012 Cannes festival her looks were quite praised. That year she debuted during the opening ceremony in a Michael Angel designed peplum dress.  The emerald green earrings and red stone finger ring she wore with gown was a good match. Next she donned a Manish Arora creation, a white Pacco Rabbane outfit. It was the perfect amount of glamour that the outfit brought. Then during the dinner party, she followed it up with a Versace black gown. The next day she was on a roll. During the premiere   of the film ‘Rag and Bone’, she appeared in a Versace Atelier gown. The lime green gown was paired with a very high slit. Many felt she was at par with stars from Hollywood on that occasion.
