First wedding picture of Pooja Batra and Nawab Shah

Pooja Batra tied the knot with Bollywood actor Nawab Shah on July 4th in Delhi according to Arya Samaj with only close family members in attendance and pictures from their wedding are doing all round the net.

The ‘Virasat’ actress looked stunning in a green saree with blush pink dupatta while Nawab was dressed in a beige kurta-pyjama with a turban on his head. In another photo shared by Pooja, the couple were twinned in grey shining outfit.  The bride wore a grey lehenga and the groom wore matching sherwani.

Speaking to Bombay Times, the 'Tiger Zinda Hai' actor said he wanted to marry Pooja as soon as he met her. “One has to be ready to experience something like this, and I guess, Pooja and I were in that space. It was as if we were destined to be together. We didn’t want to think about it too much and delay it (marriage) any further. Both of us have gone through various phases in life and have matured over the years. When I reconnected with her, a relationship wasn’t on my mind. However, at this stage in life, you feel the void of not having a companion. Pooja entered my life like sunshine and I was sure that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. In fact, I wanted to marry her right after our first meeting,” he said in the interview.

Pooja had earlier told the daily, “Nawab and I exchanged vows in Delhi, with only our families in attendance. Our loved ones kept asking us why we were delaying it (the marriage). I was simply going with the flow, but then I realised that he is the man I want to spend the rest of my life with, and there is no point in delaying it any further. So, here we are. We had an Arya Samaj wedding, and we will register our marriage this week.”

She revealed that it was Nawab who proposed to her, “He was ready to propose to me soon after we met. Eventually, he proposed to me in Delhi, and again when he came to meet my parents with his family.”

Talking about her husband, she said, “We strongly connected after we were reintroduced by a common friend in February this year. I guess we reconnected at the right time in our life. We were in the same space emotionally and hit it off instantly... We share emotional and intellectual compatibility, and we don’t have to explain too much to each other. I like the fact that he is a family person.”

Pooja was earlier married to Los Angeles-based orthopaedic surgeon, Sonu Ahluwalia. After nine years, they got divorced in 2011.Speaking about her past marriage, she said, “Everybody goes through phases. I survived one of the most difficult ones, as I was alone in a foreign country. But then, that’s life, isn’t it? You learn as you grow and your mindset also changes with time.”

This is the first time Pooja has opened up about her relationship with Nawab. “Life’s a party when you are with your soulmate,” while Nawab wrote, “Happiness”.
