First song: Anushka sings ‘Jata Kaha Hai Diwane’ in ‘Bombay Velvet’

The first song from the much awaited film of 2015, Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Bombay Velvet’ was released and it shows Anushka Sharma as a club singer singing to Geeta Dutt's iconic song 'Jaata Kahaan Hain Diwane' from the Dev Anand starrer 'CID'.

Legendary Waheeda Rehman originally grooved to the original number and now Anushka Sharma is lip-synching the song and grooving gracefully.

In Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Bombay Velvet’, Anushka plays Rosie Noronha, an aspiring Jazz singer in a nightclub, while Ranbir Kapoor plays a boxer Johnny Balraj.

‘Jaata Kahan Hain’ is the first song that Anushka as a jazz singer sung at a night club and gets noticed..

Anurag said,"I have always loved the song and we used the film CID for the opium bar reference as well. Unfortunately the original song was never seen in the film as censors had cut it out of the film. We decided to use the song for our film, one for the time period, second it fits in perfectly with the opium den atmosphere and the bars visited by Naval officers at the time and RK's character comes there after the fight to drown his pain in the haze of opium."
