First poster: Tiger Shroff takes Sylvester Stallone’s place in ‘Rambo’ remake

Tiger Shroff has been chosen to slip into the shoes of Hollywood star Sylvester Stallone in the official Hindi remake of the hit action franchise ‘Rambo’. The first look poster of the remake film featuring the ‘Baaghi’ actor was unveiled today morning (May 20).

Tiger shared the poster and his look on his Twitter timeline. “Grew up on this character, humbled and blessed to step into his shoes years later. #RamboRemake,” he wrote with the image.

The poster has a bare-bodied Tiger looking with a grim and fierce expression, and firing with a machine gun. A few scar-marks on his chest can be spotted. In the backdrop, there is a couple of helicopters and a tank.

The movie will be directed by Siddharth Anand, who had earlier directed Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif in ‘Bang Bang’, which was said to be a remake of Tom Cruise-starrer ‘Knight and Day’.

Hrithik and Sidharth Malhotra were previously considered for the role in ‘Rambo’, but it didn’t materialise and Tiger finally made the cut. The actor has good martial arts skills and has proved his action prowess in his debut ‘Heropanti’ and ‘Baaghi’.

Tiger is excited about the film and his role, but said that he can never replace Stallone. “Being a martial artist and a huge action movie buff since childhood, this all seems very surreal, and I’m very grateful for this opportunity. By no means do I believe I can replace the legendary Sylvester Stallone; however, I do feel that somehow this is something I’ve been preparing for since childhood,” he was quoted as saying.

Principal photography for ‘Rambo’ is slated to start in February next year, with a release targeted for late 2018.

Reacting to the news of an Indian remake, Hollywood star Stallone took to social media and wrote, “I read recently they are remaking Rambo in India !! .. Great character.. hope they don’t wreck it.”

Tiger responded to Stallone’s post by tweeting, “Humbled and blessed to be walking the road u lay down u r irreplaceable and I hope I don't let you down sir @TheSlyStallone #RamboRemake.”

The Indian ‘Rambo’ will get a ‘desi’ twist. It will follow the life of last surviving member of an elite covert unit of the Indian Armed Forces who returns home to discover a war waging in his own land. And how he unleashes mayhem by becoming an unstoppable machine after tough training.
