First poster: Raveena Tandon looks fierce in ‘Maatr’

Raveena Tandon will return on-screen in upcoming film ‘Maatr’, the first poster of which is out. It features a big close-up shot of Raveena’s face and her expression is a blend of fierce and sombre. It also has the word ‘mother’ written in different languages in small fonts, all over the actress’ face.

Besides, the poster also has the actress’ name, along with the film’s title and its release date, which is April 21.

The film’s official Twitter handle unveiled its poster with the caption, “Witness a #Maatr that crosses all the boundaries to do the impossible. Saga unfolds in cinemas on 21st April, 2017. #MaatrPoster.”

Raveena plays a mother and a working woman in the film, which has been directed by Ashtar Sayyed and produced by Anjum Rizvi. It also stars actor Madhur Mittal of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ fame, as the antagonist.

"Maatr speaks about the system failure and what really can be done or what should be done when such violence against women happens," the ‘Mohra’ actress said speaking about the film. She also said that shooting for the film was a a trying experience.

"When I shot for a few scenes, I was disturbed for a week after that. We were all disturbed thinking that these kinds of horrific things can happen to a living being. We have just shown 10 percent of what a woman has to deal with when such a thing happens with her. It’s a fiction film and it is not inspired from any of the cases that have taken place," Raveena said.

Interestingly, Sridevi too shared the poster of her upcoming film titled ‘Mom’. Both the posters are starkly similar, featuring the actresses and the word ‘mother’ written in different languages. However, nothing much has been revealed about the film’s story. ‘Mom’ will hit screens in July.
