Watch: Motion poster of Emraan, Kangana's ‘Ungli’

The first motion poster of the much delayed Karan Johar production ‘Ungli’ has been released. Along with the poster the makers also revealed the release date for the film which is November 28. The film has an ensemble cast featuring Emraan Hashmi, Randeep Hooda, Kangana Ranaut, Sanjay Dutt, Angad Bedi, Neil Bhoopalam and Neha Dhupia. The motion poster of the film features Emraan, Randeep, Kangana, Angad and Neil. Each character is seen with an object in their hands, from weapons to camera. It is an edgy drama film which marks a departure from the usual films that are made by Karan Johar’s Dharma productions.

Director of the film Rensil D’Silva said, “Ungli’ is a story about friendship and it’s a very character driven film. It’s about what happens when a gang of friends decide to take justice into their own hands.” Karan Johar said, “Ungli is new territory for us. It is Dharma's first film with Emraan and has a very different plot from the kind of subjects we have explored in the past. Rensil D'Silva has put his heart and soul into this one.”  The film was originally slated to release in September, 2013. But it was delayed due to the creative differences that crept up between the director and the editor Shirish Kunder and composer duo Salim-Sulaiman who created the music of the film. The jail term of Sanjay Dutt also hampered the project. Another release date was scheduled for 23rd May. But it was again pushed back as Dharma productions said they have been requested by Sajid Nadiadwala to do that in order to avoid a clash with 'Heropanti'.   However later reports emerged that it was because of Karan Johar who wanted more songs in the film. With all major issues resolved, the makers and the actors are looking forward to the release.

Emraan Hashmi will most likely be looking forward to the success of this film as two of his last releases, ‘Raja Natwarlal’ and ‘Ghanchakkar’ have failed at the box office. Randeep Hooda however has seen big success with the blockbuster ‘Kick’. Kangana after her acclaimed performance in ‘Queen’ has been receiving international offers as well. She will be seen in a French film ‘Divine Lovers’ alongside Irrfan Khan. She described the film as “It's a real love story that is not shot on set, with chiffon saris flying.” Fans will also get to see Sanjay Dutt before the December release of the highly anticipated film ‘PK’ with Aamir Khan.
