First Poster: Deepika, SRK, Abhishek in ‘Happy New Year’

As promised, Shahrukh Khan unveiled the first poster of one of the highly anticipated film of the year, ‘Happy New Year’ starring him, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood, Viaan Shah and Deepika Padukone. The poster comes with a tagline, ‘Iss Diwali..Torenge Taale India Waale’. The poster sees all the stars of the film dressed in black and taking a unique action position.

An official source said: "`Happy New Year` will be a Diwali release." Directed by choreographer turned filmmaker Farah Khan and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt Ltd, the music of the film is composed by composer duo Vishal-Shekhar. The film is high on spirit, thrill and energy. It is shot on a grand scale.

This is Shahrukh Khan and Farah Khan’s third film together after the success of ‘Om Shanti Om’ and ‘Main Hoon Naa’.

In the film, Deepika will be seen in the role of a bar dancer. The film is shot during the time when bar dancers were banned and it was difficult for them to earn their living. Deepika has five other male friends who are atrocious dancers and circumstances force them to take part in an international Dance competition. Deepika trains them for the competition.

A source said, “Deepika will play the role of an out-of-work bar dancer from Maharashtra. And her role will have significance in the lives of all the five leading men”.

The source also said, “They're shooting for a song called ‘Indiawaale' in Dubai which is basically a song that represents the country. Since the actors are participating in a dance competition with contestants from various other countries, this song will be a cheer-leader anthem for the nation. All the men will be portrayed as atrocious dancers and Deepika will help them win the dance trophy.”

‘Happy New Year’ was shot in Dubai, Goa. Fans tweeted pictures of Shahrukh Khan shooting in Dubai.

Announcing the start of shooting of this movie, on 1st September director Farah Khan tweeted, “ Farah Khan tweeted, “N the Countdown begins! Exactly 1 mnth before shoot starts for Happy New Year ! The most hectic, exhilirating, stressfully happy time!”
