First Picture: Veteran actor, politician Vinod Khanna laid to rest

Here we bring to you the first picture of Vinod Khanna, when he was laid to rest. Vinod Khanna breathed his last at the Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre in Girgaon, Mumbai, early this morning. He was admitted to the hospital a month ago following severe dehydration.

"Veteran actor and Member of Parliament Mr. Vinod Khanna, who was admitted to the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital breathed his last at 11.20 am due to advanced bladder carcinoma," the spokesperson of the hospital said in an official statement.

He is survived by his wife Kavita Khanna, sons Rahul, Akshaye and Sakshi, and daughter Shraddha Khanna. He was earlier married to Getanjali but they later got divorced.

Vinod Khanna, one of the most handsome actors of his time, made his debut in 1968 with a negative role in Sunil Dutt’s ‘Man Ka Meet’. He continued to play villains in movies like ‘Purab Aur Paschim’, ‘Sachaa Jhutha’, ‘Aan Milo Sajna’, and ‘Mastana’. He debuted as a leading man with the 1971 movie ‘Hum Tum Aur Who’ and went on to feature in blockbusters like ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, ‘Muqaddar Ka Sikandar’ and ‘Qurbaani’

Khanna left the industry when he was at the peak of his career to follow the spiritual guru Osho Rajneesh. He made a comeback in 1987 and continued to play leading roles in a few movies. He later transitioned to supporting roles in the 1990s. Later, he went on to work with Salman Khan in movies like ‘Wanted’, ‘Dabangg’ and ‘Dabangg 2’, and was last seen in Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Dilwale’. He also porayed into politics and was a sitting Bharatiya Janata Party member of the Lok Sabha from Punjab’s Gurdaspur constituency.
