First Picture: Salman Khan enters Jodhpur Central jail

Salman Khan has been convicted in 1998 blackbuck poaching case today by a rural court and the superstar was sentenced five years of jail for his offence. The actor’s lawyers will move the High Court for his bail application but the actor has to spend a night at Jodhpur central jail as paper works will take time. Here is the first picture of Salman entering Jodhpur jail.

His bodyguard Shera accompanied the actor till the main gate. His two sisters Alvira and Arpita, who accompanied him to the court broke down on hearing the jail sentence.

The actor’s lawyers argued for a long time over the quantum of punishment. They pleaded for lesser period of sentence and even defended the actor on the ground of his social work. He was sentenced to five years in jail and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000. The actor is taken to Jodhpur central jail.

Salman’s lawyers will move the High court for bail. His lawyers pleased for minimum sentence. If his jail term was less than three years then they could have applied for bail in the same court but now they have to move the High Court for bail.

If the bail application is not heard today then the actor will have to spend the night in jail today. He is currently locked in Jodhpur Central Jail.

Other co-accused Sonali Bendre, Saif Ali Khan, Neelam and Tabu were however acquitted by the court. Dushyant Singh, who allegedly accompanied the actors in poaching the blackbuck which is an endangered species was also acquitted. Another accused Dinesh Gawre is still absconding.

The blackbuck poaching case dates back to 1998 when Salman Khan and his team went to Jodhpur for the shooting of Sooraj Barjatiya’s ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’. Salman Khan and his team went hunting in Jodhpur where he killed two blackbucks in September, 1998 in Kankani village.
