First look: Singer Adnan Sami makes acting debut with ‘Afghan’

Popular singer Adnan Sami, who has been missing from Bollywood scene for some time, has forayed into acting. The ‘Lift Kara De’ singer will be making his acting debut with upcoming film titled ‘Afghan - In Search of A Home’. Adnan’s look and first poster of the film has been released.

Adnan will be seen in the role of a musician in the film and his look shows him sporting a heavy beard and moustache with a yellow turban on his head. The first poster features him in his musician avatar holding a musical instrument, rubab. The poster also has faint images of barbed wire barricades.

The movie will be directed Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru. The film will go on floors in August and the makers are targeting a 2018 release. Adan will also be doubling up as the music composer for the film.

The movie is said to be an intense drama with a mix of emotional and musical elements. The story revolves around a musician who flees his country - Afganisthan - under tense circumstances and seeks refuge in another. The character of the film loosely resembles his own life.

Adnan, who was granted Indian citizenship in 2015, has previously collaborated with Radhika and Vinay in Salman Khan's film ‘Lucky... No Time for Love’. He also sang and appeared as a qawaal in ‘Bhar Do Jholi Meri’ song in ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’.
