First look: Saif Ali Khan is a passionate cook & dotting dad in ‘Chef’

The makers of Saif Ali Khan starrer film ‘Chef’ have unveiled the movie’s first look, while also announcing the new release date. ‘Chef’ is a Hindi adaptation of 2014 Hollywood film of the same name, written and directed by Jon Favreau who also played the titular role in the movie.

The Bollywood film has been directed by Raja Krishna Menon of ‘Airlift’ fame, and co-produced by T-Series and Abundantia Entertainment. Both the production companies shared one still each of ‘Chef’ on their respective Twitter handles.

T-Series posted a still in which Saif is seen as a passionate cook, conjuring up something in the kitchen. “#Chef, starring #SaifAliKhan directed by @RajaMenon, produced by T-Series and @Abundantia_Ent, to release on 6th Oct. [email protected],” the tweet with the image read.

Another still has Saif handing over vegetables to his son, played by Svar Kamble. “Mark the date, guys! @ChefFilmIndia starring #SaifAliKhan will release on 6th October, 2017! @RajaMenon @TSeries @vikramix @BandraWestPix,” Abundantia Entertainment tweeted with the still.

‘Chef’ was originally supposed to hit screens on July 14, but its release date was rescheduled in order to avoid a clash with Anurag Basu’s much-delayed film ‘Jagga Jasoos’ starring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, and Shraddha Kapoor starrer biopic ‘Haseena – The Queen’. The film will now release on October 6.

‘Chef’ is based on a professional chef, who quits his job at a popular restaurant in New York after refusing to compromise his creative integrity to its controlling owner, and launches a food truck with his friend and son, while also piecing back together his estranged family.

The film marks the Bollywood debut of South actress Padmapriya in the role of Saif's wife. Chandan Roy Sanyal plays Saif’s friend in the movie.
