First Look: John Abraham, Shruti, Anil Kapoor say ‘Welcome Back’

The comedy blockbuster of 2007 featuring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif was the film ‘Welcome’ which won the adoration of the fans. Director Anees Bazmi now continues the saga with the sequel ‘Welcome Back’. However, neither Akshay nor Katrina will be seen in the film. Instead, John Abraham and Shruti Hassan have been roped in to play the lead roles in the comedy. The first look of the film has now been released. Senior actor Anil Kapoor who plays an important role in both this films has revealed the first look on twitter and wrote, “#welcomeback We Are Coming!”

In the best traditions of Bollywood, the early teaser of ‘Welcome Back’ is a stunning scene which shows the leading protagonists including John Abraham, Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor dressed as baraatis and playing the wedding shehnai while glamorously dressed people form the background. Paresh Rawal is shown to be standing on the left in kurta pyjama and playing the wedding trumpet. It is a very glamorous setting. A grand staircase jammed with richly dressed people rise to the balconies which too are filled with beautifully dressed wedding guests. This is definitely the correct look for the wedding season. In addition to these actors, Dimple Kapadia, Nasiruddin Shah, Kainaat Arora and Shiney Ahuja will also appear in the film. According to reports, while John Abraham replaces Akshay Kumar, megastar Amitabh Bachchan will be playing the role of RDX which was played by Feroz Khan in the previous movie.

The glamorous first look has created a lot of interest in the movie. The prequel was a rib tickler in the best Bollywood tradition and similar things are expected of this film as well. It is also unique being the first Hindi film to be shot at the Emirates Palace which is owned by the royal family of Abu Dhabi. This is the second film in the world to be shot here after ‘Fast and furious 7’. The dome area of the palace will be shown as the living room of Nasiruddin Shah. Hence some stunning scenes and glamorous décor are to be expected.

The film is produced by Firoz Nadiawala and is set to be released in March of 2015. Considering the comedy genius of veteran actors like Paresh Rawal and performance of John Abraham in ‘Desi Boyz’ the sequel is likely to be as funny as the earlier film.
