First Look: Akshay, Nimrat get classy in ‘Airlift’

After the super-duper success of ‘Baby’, Akshay Kumar is back with another interesting flick, titled ‘Airlift’, directed by Raja Menon. The film went on floor on Saturday at a suburban studio in Mumbai. ‘Airlift’ starring Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur in the lead is based on a real life incident which took place in Kuwait during 1990 Gulf War. The first look of the film was released which shows Akshay and Nimrat posing in style in a house with an opulent Arabic flavour at the backdrop.

The shooting will take place in locations like Mumbai, Ras Al Khaimah and Bhuj, other places. The story is based on a unique idea of world's largest civilian evacuation where close to 170,000 Indians were evacuated from war-torn Kuwait. Akshay plays Ranjit Katyal who executes the entire process of evacuation.

In ‘Airlift’, Nimrat Kaur of ‘Lunchbox’ plays a sophisticated rich woman. The film marks the production debut of director Nikhil Advani, presenting it by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series and Cape of Good Films in collaboration with Vikram Malhotra's Abundantia. Speaking on the new flick, Akshay said, "I have fallen in love with Airlift and its unique story. Rarely, does one come across a story that has such unique and universal appeal. I am very excited and happy that the film has kicked-off in Mumbai."

Producer Bhushan Kumar said, “It is great working with this team again. I have really liked the script and the actors Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur perfectly fit into the characters.”

The film is scheduled to hit the screens in 2016.
