The huge Rajini fans waited with bated breath to catch the first day first show as this is Rajinikanth first movie since he recovered from illness. Trade analysts are optimistic that ‘Kochadaiyaan’ would set a new box-office record. The film had a thunderous first day business basically in Tamil Nadu. In Kerala, the film released in approximately 90 theatres, in Andhra Pradesh around 380, 75+ in Karnataka and 450 screens in other parts of India.

The film starts with a bang in the South compared to the North India, the film would perform bit low due to the release of Tiger Shroff’s debut movie, ‘Heropanti’ and Hollywood film ‘X-MEN: Days Of Future Past’. In Andhra Pradesh also ‘Kochadaiyaan’ would have a dull show as legendary late actor Nageswara Rao’s last film co-starring his son Nagarjuna released in theatres. But in Tamil Nadu and its neighboring states, the response was outstanding.

The film also stars Deepika Padukone alongside Rajini for the first time and this would be another important factor to drag the North Indian audience to the theatre. Ahead of the film release, the  Tamilnadu government has exempted the film of ‘entertainment tax’ which is usually around 15% for new films.

‘Kochadaiiyaan’ expected to strike gold at the box-office. Tarde pundits predicted that the film would collect around 30-35 crores in the opening day.
