First day box-office collection of ‘Gulaab Gang’

Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla starrer ‘Gulaab Gang’ fall flat at the box-office in the opening day. The film showed a lukewarm start and registered a low occupancy of 10-15% at single theatres and multiplexes across the country. ‘Gulaab Gang’ directed by the Soumik Sen and produced by the Anubhav Sinha was expected to make an opening day collection of 6 crores but the numbers seem to be far away. Despite promoting the film in big way in every TV show by the lead protagonist, Madhuri and Juhi, audience did not welcome the film with open arms.

The same day released movie, ‘Total Siyapaa’ and ‘Queen’ also had a poor start. ‘Total Siyappa’ also registered occupancy of 10-15% in the single theatres as well as multiplexes.  In comparison to the above mentioned two movies, Kangana Ranaut starrer, ‘Queen’ showed a good opening day business. The film had registered 20-25% occupancy.  But it the Hollywood movie 300: Rise Of An Empire that is ruling the Indian box-office.

Trade experts are worried with the lukewarm response of the three releases this week. They opined that all of the three movies ‘Gulaab Gang’, ‘Queen’ and ‘Total Siyapaa’ are big-budget movies. They need to garner good collection to regain the production cost.

Hope, all the three releases show a tremendous rise in the opening weekend and the coming days.
