First day box-office collection of ‘2 States’


The much awaited film of 2014 titled, ‘2 States’ based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel of the same name saw the light of the day on Friday and the film had a promising first day opening in most of the places of India. Starring Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor in the lead, ‘2 States’, recorded occupancy of 45-55% in multiplexes as well as single theatres.

The script is the USP of the film and audience is clean bowled over Alia and Arjun’s chemistry. In Mumbai and Delhi, ‘2 States’ opened to 70% occupancy while in central India the film recorded 60% occupancy. The movie is expected to earn good numbers in the opening weakened and in the coming days.

Being a holiday (Good Friday), the film scored well in many places. The film is well promoted and the two young heartthrob of Bollywood charmed the audience. ‘2 States’ is expected to make a first day collection of 10.9 crores. The film is well crafted and executed. The cross cultural theme makes the movie even more interesting.

Young generation relates to the instances and they are showing keen interest in watching the film if not at least once. Since the backdrop of the film is IIM-Ahmadabad, ‘2 States’ showed occupancy of 80% in Gujarat while Dehradun and Pune registered occupancy of 55% and Chennai showed a moderate occupancy of about 60%. This major occupancy is also credited to the National holiday of Good Friday. Due to the on-going IPL, it was predicted that the film occupancy would show down by the evening but surprisingly the film had the total occupancy of t95-100% in India.

Though ‘2 States’ received a mixed reviews, the concept, peppy music and young lad would cross every barrier and made it to another big blockbuster of 2014.
