FIR filed against Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ranveer Singh

Bajirao Mastani’ filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and its lead actor Ranveer Singh have been accused of allegedly assaulting a person while shooting for the period romance at a fort in Pune on Friday, October 16.

The man identifies as Advocate Wajid Khan, a resident of Kharadi later that evening lodged and FIR against the director and the actor at Bhor police station, which falls under the jurisdiction of Pune Rural Police. The Bhor police have registered the complaint under charges of sections 323, 504 and 506 of IPC and reported it in their non-cognizable offence register in this regard.

The Pune-based lawyer in his complaint alleged that Sanjay Leela Bhansali restrained him from going to a government office located at Rajwada fort in Bhor. Wajid said that the director stopped him and called him “kaale coat wale” (black coat person) and said “Tumhara jo bhi kam hai wo baad mein” (Whatever your work may be, you can do later).

The lawyer further alleged that Ranveer too, without a thought instructed the security personnel saying “Inko yahaan se baahar nikaalo” (Get him out of the premises). The guards manhandled him and pushed him out forcefully, Wajid added.

 ‘Bajirao Mastani’ team has not yet officially reacted on the issue.

The film is a period romance which also stars Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Milind Soman and Tanvi Azmi among others. It is set to release on December 18.
