Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan to sue Sudhanshu Pandey

Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan confirms filing a criminal defamation suit against actor Sudhanshu Pandey. Roshan Sr says: "Yes, I am filing a criminal defamation suit against him. That's all I can say for now."

Rakesh Roshan plans to slap a defamation case against Sudhanshu Pandey for stealing script. Roshan decided to drag Pandey to the court after the later charged theft and fraud against him and fellow director Sanjay Gupta last week.

Sudhanshu Pandey claimed that Rakesh Roshan and Sanjay Gupta stole his love story-cum-revenge drama script starring Hrithik Roshan. The film is supposedly to go on floor next month.

A source says, "Roshan has got in touch with his lawyers for advice on filing the defamation suit. He is in no mood to remain mum over the allegations which threaten to tarnish his name and image in the industry."

The filmmaker also seeks Rs 50 crore as damages compensation from Pandey. "The defamation suit is being processed at the moment. Besides, no criminal charges have been pressed against Roshan or Gupta so far," reveals another source.

It all started in May last year when Pandey met Gupta and agreed to direct and co-produced the project. When approached Balaji Telefilms also keen to join the team as co-producer.

Apparently, after one script-reading session, Hrithik agreed to star in the project but wanted it to be produced by his father Rakesh Roshan. He wants Roshan to present and produce it under his banner FilmKRAFT Productions.

Last October, Sudhanshu met Roshan and Gupta and said to have been offered them two per cent of the profits and take credit as associate producer, but not for the story, screenplay and dialogues.

While Pandey remained unavailable for comment, Roshan Sr confirmed the report.
