Filmmaker Prakash Mehra’s son Amit Mehra dies at 40


Late filmmaker Prakash Mehra’s son Amit Mehra passed away on Saturday morning following cardiac arrest. He was 40. Amit Mehra was one of the three sons of Prakash Mehra.

"He was at his residence when his family found him unconscious and took him to the hospital, where the doctors declared that he had died of a sudden cardiac arrest," the source said.

"Sad news producer-director Prakash Mehra's son Amit passed away today morning," a source close to the family said.

Prakash Mehra's other two sons are Sumeet and Puneet Mehra. Actor Vindu Dara Singh, son of Dara Singh condole the death of Amit Mehra.

"RIP Amit Mehra, son of Prakash Mehra ji too early to leave at this young age," he posted.

 In 2013, Amit hit the headlines when he entered into a legal brawl with scriptwriter Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar over the remake of his father's film 'Zanjeer' starring Priyanka Chopra and Ram Charan.

Puneet the youngest one said, "Sumeet and I were totally against Amit's idea of remaking dad's 1973 blockbuster. We realized that he had finalized his director and even the hero. He pleaded that if we do not give him the licensing right for a certain fee, he'll be finished. And we relented.”

His cremation took place in an electric crematorium in Oshiwara.
