Filmmaker Prakash Mehra passes away

Notable filmmaker of Bollywood Prakash Mehra passes away. He was 69. He was not in good health for quite sometime and breathed his last on Sunday morning. He was in hospital for several days and finally died of pneumonia and multiple organ failure at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital. He will be cremated at the Juhu crematorium.

His combination with Amitabh Bachchan was a super-hit. He was the man behind blockbuster like ‘Zanjeer’. He will always be remembered for his offerings like “Muqaddar Ka Sikandar”, “Sharabi”, “Laawaris” and “Namak Halal” starring Amitabh Bachchan. Big B visited him in the hospital.

Prakash Mehra started his career as a production controller and entered into director with the musical super hit 'Haseena Man Jaayegi' (1968) starring Shashi Kapoor

 ‘Bal Brahmachari’ was the last film that he directed which was the launch pad of Rajkumar son’s Puru Rajkumar. 'Mujhe Meri Biwi Se Bachao' (2001) starring Rekha was his last produced movie.

He left behind his two sons - Sumeet and Amit. Prakash Mehra was also the recipient of many prestigious awards.
