Celebrities at Shree Raj Mahal Jewellers India Couture Week

The Indian Couture Week 2014, organized by Shree Raj Mahal Jewelers has now been concluded. The closing day of the event was made memorable by appearances from Bollywood beauties Bipasha Basu and Chitrangda Singh and a host of top models. Even director Madhur Bhandarkar showcased his ‘fashion’ side.

The mood of the evening was set by the background tune of ‘Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend’, which was immortalized by Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe. Several big names of the fashion world like Aditi Gowitrikar and Muzammil Ibrahim took to the ramp and showcased items like dazzling diamond necklaces, earrings studded with emerald and ruby, large gold chokers paired with black sequined gowns etc. Femina Miss India 2014 winner Koyal Rana, first runner-up Jhataleka Malhotra and second runner-up Gail DaSilv- all walked the ramp in bridal wear and exquisite pieces of gold jewelry.

The two showstoppers of the evening were Chitrangda Singh and Bipasha Basu.  Chitrangda did a Marilyn Monroe like walk wearing a strapless black gown and a stunning diamond necklace. After the show she said, “The whole idea was to give a feel of Marilyn Monroe. The diamond neck piece was the reason we decided to do it on stage. I was nervous because no one can do it the way Marilyn did but I had fun. I am glad people appreciated it."

Bipasha Basu looked absolutely captivating on ramp when she appeared looking like a real bride in wedding jewelry and a Rohit Bal created lehanga. Visibly happy after the show, Bipasha said, “Whenever I wear Indian outfit, I make sure of accessorising it well with jewellery and today I am feeling like a queen. I started my career as a model and it's great to come back to Delhi again and walk on ramp. It was such a great welcome that I felt emotional.”

Madhur Bhandarkar utilized his knowledge about the fashion industry and walked like a pro on the ramp wearing a stylish black kurta. Another man caught many eyes with his presence and he was star cricketer Virender Sehwag. Sehwag also wore a black kurta and sat through the presentation of designer Sulakshana and exited quickly after that. On his rare appearance in the fashion circuit, Sehwag said, “This is the first time I'm watching a fashion show. I come very rarely for fashion events, though I have walked on the ramp once. That was quite an experience."
