Exclusive info on 'Timbaktu'

While Vishal Bhardwaj awaits the audience response to his new flick MAQBOOL, the talented music director turned director has already started work on his next venture...
...Titled TIMBAKTU, Vishal has already had a meeting with Vivek Oberoi and Aishwarya Rai to enact the lead roles. “They've expressed a keen desire to act in the film. However, the modalities are being worked out,” Vishal tells me. In fact, Vishal is meeting Ash on January 14.

What is TIMBAKTU all about? And, most importantly, why did he choose an offbeat title like TIMBAKTU? Vishal shoots back, “Well, TIMBAKTU is based on a novel ['Pas de Quatre'] penned by an Australian writer, I.A.R. Wylie. I've officially bought the filming rights of the novel. Since I expect the film to participate at various international film festivals, I don't want the copyright issue to arise later.

“As for going in for a title like TIMBAKTU, this word has fascinated me for long. We've heard of the city, but aren't really aware of its geographical location. At least a lot of people I know aren't aware of it. It's a love story and I feel the title suits the content of my film.”

Although Vishal is still working on the script and has to finalise the star cast, he has decided to produce this film himself [Vishal Bhardwaj Productions].
