Even sexy Sunny couldn’t save ‘Kuch Kuch Locha Hai’

Despite extensive promotions through jamborees and live performance by the sizzling Sunny Leone, her film ‘Kuch Kuch Locha Hai’ fell flat at the box office and this was expected, for ‘Piku’ with its ensemble of star cast was there to give it stiff competition.

The Sunny Leone starrer barely managed to gross Rs 2.25 crore in its first weekend and as low as Rs 75 lakh on first day, worse than her ‘Jackpot’ which was equally a dud.

On the other hand, ‘Piku’ with its unconventional subject and stripped of any song and dance, other than the background scores, brought in Rs 25.22 crore which is a good total for a movie of its genre.

As was evident, the film’s appeal was purely for Sunny’s presence in it. But her glamorous role of an actress in the film, exotic locations and dance numbers -‘Paani wala dance’ and ‘Daaru peeke dance’ couldn’t save the film from dwindling.

The sexy-siren’s previous release ‘Ek Paheli Leela’, where she appeared in a double role, earned Rs 24.28 crore in its first week and was declared a semi hit. Sunny managed to show in the movie that she was also capable of acting, and not just shaking her booty.

Devang Dholakia’s  ‘Kuch Kuch Locha Hai’ was released with an ‘A’ certificate for its sexual connotations. The story is about a Gujarati businessman who is infatuated with the Bollywood starlet Shanaya. He even has a secret ‘worship chamber’ at his workplace and his family is unaware of his ‘feelings’ for the actress. He finally gets to meet Shanaya when she enters his family to learn the nuances of Gujarati people for one of her films.

The cast of ‘Kuch Kuch Locha Hai’ include TV actor Ram Kapoor, Navdeep Chabra and Evelyn Sharma.
