Don't deserve Bharat Ratna: Amitabh tells Mamata

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan will be honoured with Padma Vibhushan by the Government of India for his outstanding contribution in Hindi cinema but Chief Minister of Bengal Mamata Banerjee slams the Indian Government decision of honouring the legendary star with Padma Vibhushan. She claimed that Amitabh Bachchan deserves Bharat Ratna and not Padma Vibhushan.

The 72-year-old actor, took to Twitter to express his views on the same.

"@MamataOfficial Mamata di... I am not deserving of such recognition... Most humbled and honoured by what the Nation has given me..!!," Bachchan tweeted.

Banerjee had tweeted yesterday that the actor deserved Bharat Ratna. "Amitabh Bachchan is a legend in his lifetime. Padma Vibhushan is not enough. Somebody of his stature deserves a Bharat Ratna," Banerjee had said.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan who is a recipient of the Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri, has been chosen for Padma Vibhushan, the second highest civilian award of the country, with veteran actor Dilip Kumar and seven others.

Later during the promotion of his film in London today, Big B said, "I think Mamata di has been far too generous. With all due respects to Mamata di, I think she's being a little too liberal in her thoughts."

This year Baba Ramdev, Ravi Shankar and scriptwriter Salim Khan refused to accept Padma Award conferred to them.
