Domestic violence case: Om Puri goes missing

After wife Nandita Puri lodged a complaint of domestic violence against her husband Om Puri, the veteran actor goes missing. Nandita Puri filed a case against him at a police station in Mumbai alleging domestic violence. Now, the actor has applied for anticipatory bail. The bail application will be heard today.

After his wife lodged a complaint against Om Puri, he goes missing. When police came to his house, he was not found.

The investigation officer said, “the police had gone to the actor’s house to arrest him on Friday, but he was not there. Currently the police are tracing the actor through his cellphone. ” In his complaint, Nandita said that she was beaten-up by a stick by Puri.

"When Nandita Puri had come to the police station, we sent her to Cooper Hospital and she also submitted a medical report post the check up," the police officer from Versova Police station told the reporters.

Om Puri was booked under sections 324, 504 and 506. Troubled in their marital life roared up in the past but it was assumed that things settled between them. The couple with their son Ishaan also went for a holiday recently.

NDTV senior journalist Barkha Dutt tweeted about the case, saying, “So Om Puri, who once bizarrely made up a husband for me who runs a japanese cafe in Canada ( dont ask) charged with domestic violence”.

The actor who was charged with domestic violence ironically commented on the recent gang-rape case in Mumbai, saying, “Stringent punishment should be there so that people are afraid of the law. Nobody is afraid of the law because it is not effective, it takes so much of time.”

Troubled in their paradise started when Nandita Puri wrote a book on her husband, titled 'Unlikely Hero: The Story Of Om Puri' where the struggle, journey and actor’s experience was narrated. It was heard then Om Puri was not happy with the book.

Om Puri, who is an alumnus of the National School of Drama and the Film and Television Institute of India, was honored with Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award for his excellence in the field of acting. 

The actor was recently seen in films like ‘Dabangg’, ‘Kurbaan’, ‘Chakravyuh’, ‘West Is West’ and ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’.

Om Puri was earlier married to Seema Kapoor. He divorced Seema and later tied the knot with Nandita
