Dilip Saab recovering well and is stable, Saira Banu

Dilip Kumar, who was admitted to Mumbai Lilavati hospital on Friday night is said to be stable and recovering well. Earlier doctors attending the actor said that next 72 hours was critical for him but the latest update about Dilip Kumar’s health is that he has been moved out of ICU but is stable.

"Dilip Sahab was admitted to Lilavati Hospital for treatment of high fever and chest infection on April 15 night. He was advised intravenous administration of antibiotics for speedy recovery," Saira Banu said in a statement.

"Oral drugs would not act as fast as the IV injections, the doctors advised. Hence it became necessary to shift him to a hospital. He is recovering well and is stable by the grace of God and the care of the doctors treating him. He is in a room and in the hospital and not in the ICU as spread by rumours."

Dr Jalil Parkar of Lilavati Hospital who is treating the 93-year-old earlier said, "The next 72 hours are crucial. He is under observation. We are keeping a close watch. He might have to be shifted to the ICU. It takes time for a patient to respond to the treatment in the same way as it takes three hours for the food to digest."

"I got a call that he was unwell. He had fever and had vomited a few times. He was suffering from pneumonia as well. His white blood cells had shot up. We thought it would be better to admit him to hospital", Dr Jalil Parkar told news agencies.

He was rushed to Lilavati hospital on Saturday around 2-2.30 am after the thespian complained of respiratory problem. He was also suffering from pneumonia.

He was shifted from ICU to the general ward.
