Dilip Kumar turns 92, to be discharged from hospital today


Veteran actor and popularly known as the ‘Tragedy King’, Dilip Kumar is likely to get discharged from hospital today. He was admitted to Lilavati hospital couple of days back following pneumonia. A close friend of the actor Udaya Tara Nayar informed that the actor is doing fine and will be discharged today.

Dilip Kumar celebrates his 92nd birthday today and will be able to celebrate the D-day at home with close ones. "I met him and he is fine now. He has been responding to the treatment very well," Udaya Tara Nayar, who is also the compiler of the 91-year-old actor's autobiography titled The Substance and the Shadow, said.

Wife and veteran actor Saira Banu has planned a small dinner for the special day. "We do have plans to get him back home before his birthday. Doctor will do his check-up tomorrow (Thursday) morning and he will be discharged by tomorrow afternoon. He should be back home by 1 p.m. or 2 p.m," said Nayar.

She added, "As far his birthday plans are concerned, it will be a quiet celebration only with his close friends."

"Dilip Saab is feeling much better now. The bronchopneumonia that he was initially suffering from has been cured. In all probability, we will be discharging him by tomorrow," said Dr Jalil Parkar, well-known pulmonologist and Kumar's doctor at Lilavati hospital.

Inn September last year he also suffered a silent heart attack.

Known for his classics like 'Devdas', 'Madhumati', 'Mughal-e-Azam' and 'Ganga Jamuna', Dilip Kumar is hale and hearty and will be discharged by afternoon.
