‘Dhoom 3’ collects 368.23 crore worldwide in 11 days

Dhoom 3’ has put a befitting end to 2013 and seems set to continue its spree in 2014 as well. The film has shattered all records, beat ‘Chennai Express’ and ‘Krrishh 3’ way long back and set new benchmarks with its box office collections reaching rs. 368.23 Crore as ofMonday. What’s more, the film has not only performed well in India but has the overseas market in business.  While the film has garnered Rs. 234.66 cr in India, the international screens have minted Rs. 133.57 cr within eleven days. The film has broken all overseas records and has become the highest grosser in the markets of United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Interestingly, ‘Dhoom 3’ has easily surpassed the lifetime collection of ‘3 Idiots’ (Rs. 204 crore), ‘Chennai Express’ (Rs. 208 crore) and ‘Housefull 2’ in a few countries. At present, the Aamir Khan Starrer blockbuster film stands at Rs. 368.23 cr worldwide and is still minting more. Experts predict the film will continue its good run until the Arshad Warsi- Soha Ali Khan starrer ‘Mr. Joe B Carvalho’ or the Arshad Warsi – Naseeruddin Shah Film ‘Dedh Ishqiya’ comes out.

According to a report in the Indian Express, ‘Dhoom 3’ which hit the triple century mark in box office collections worldwide in only eight days, has bagged $21.58 million (Rs. 133.57 crore) till Monday (December 30) in the overseas market alone. Dhoom 3’s domestic box office collections as of Tuesday (December 31) stand at a phenomenal Rs. 241.92 crore, which includes Rs. 230.38 crore from Hindi and Rs. 11.54 crore from Tamil and Telugu versions.

As per a tweet by Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, ‘Dhoom 3 – all languages (2nd Tuesday) Hindi Rs. 7.09 crore, Tamil& Telugu Rs. 0.17 crore, total Rs. 7.26 crore, Grand total : Rs. 241.92 crore.’ He also tweeted ‘‘Dhoom 3’ overseas total ‘Till Monday’ is $21.58 million (Rs. 133.57 crore.)

According to reports, ‘Dhoom 3’ had completed its second week at the box office with collections of Rs. 234.66 crore in India, Hindi – Rs. 44.32 crore, Tamil and Telugu - Rs. 1.36 crore, Total: Hindi Rs. 223.29 Crore, Tamil &Telugu Rs. 11.37 Crore. Grand total: Rs. 234.66 crore.

The film was known to be a promising film as it had Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan and had people speculating for a long time. The marketing was limited and helped in creating more suspense and finally leading to a huge turnout in the theatres. Smart move, we say!
