Vidya Balan turns desi Oprah Winfrey on TV

Vidya Balan is one of the actresses well known for their versatility. She has played roles as challenging as those in ‘Kahaani’ and redefined sexiness with ‘The Dirty Picture’. And now, Vidya would be exploring yet another dimension of her talents. It has been reported that she might be hosting a talk show that is inspired by one of the most famous personalities of America.

According to Mumbai Mirror, Vidya would host a talk show that is similar to none other than ‘Oprah Winfrey Show’. Vidya would get the support of Hollywood for this show and it would be broadcasted on a television network of USA. A source shed light on this matter, “It’s a show unlike any on Indian television. It will be backed by a Hollywood studio and will air on a US television network. It demands six months of consecutive filming dates which is why she doesn’t want to sign any new films.”

A source reports what it would take for the show makers to get a nod from the actress – “The 37-year-old says that she may consider TV only if the content matches the level of writing in international shows”. While Vidya Balan reported - “When the writing gets to a level of Mad Men or Six Feet Under, then I will be more than happy to do TV shows. I don’t want to be part of just another reality or fiction show that does not interest me. There are two ideas I was approached for sometime back, but I’ve asked the makers to develop the concept first. If I like the final concept, then maybe I will go ahead.”

Though Vidya may be in for this talk show, she reveals that she recently declined offer from a famous Indian TV show. She says – “The next season of Nach Baliye was offered to me but I declined as I don’t see myself doing a reality show. But I will never rule out television”. She is mum on the offer regarding the talk show.

Vidya recently completed the filming of Mohit Suri film ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahaani’. There were rumors that she was heading for a biopic. She had to select from two – a biopic of Suchitra Sen or on Pakistan’s 11th Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. But then she denied saying “I’m not doing either of the biopics.” Having denied these possibilities, it might be the case that Vidya is instead gearing up for the talk show.
