Deepika’s viral ‘Padmavati’ look is fake, confirms casting director

A pencil sketch, apparently of Deepika Padukone’s look in ‘Padmavati’ that went viral online, was fake, the film’s casting director Shruti Mahajan confirmed.

The sketch depicted Deepika as a Rajput princess in traditional attire, replete with heavy jewellery, including maang tika and nathni. The drawing gained credibility as it seemed to be have been posted on the casting director’s Facebook page.

But it appears that the image was not the ‘look’ of Deepika in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film, but a fan’s imagination.

Shruti took to her official Facebook page and denied that the sketch the actress’ look in ‘Padmavati’ and that it was not from her official FB page.

“This is to immediately clarify that the sketch floating of Deepika Padukone was not posted from my official account. It is a fake account and is not connected to me or the film whatsoever. The image floating is not Deepika's look in Padmavati. I would like to urge the media to check the authenticity of the account before publishing it. Reiterating that the 'revealed look' floating is nowhere like Deepika's look in the film and it's definitely not from me,” Shruti wrote in her post.

The artist who drew the sketch also tweeted that it was based entirely on his imagination, and that he had never mentioned that it was Deepika’s look in 'Padmavati'.

Meanwhile, Deepika joined the sets of ‘Padmavati’ on its day 12 of shooting on Wednesday (Nov 16). The actress’ first day of shooting began with the traditional ‘Ghoomar’ dance sequence.

‘Padmavati’ also stars Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and Aditi Rao Hydari, and the film is scheduled to release on November 17, 2017.
