Deepika and Priyanka surprise the media with their friendship

Actresses are always thought to be clawing at each other. When there is news of their friendship, the world is taken aback. Something similar has been the case with the blossoming friendship between Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra.

These names have never been tagged together as they have never been seen together on any public platform. At the Filmfare awards ceremony this year the two were seen gossiping and blathering with each other for long hours. They even laughed a lot that made their camaraderie evident. It was also palpable from their body language that the two have been genuinely friends since a long time.

When Deepika was quizzed about this at Tanishq’s “Race 2” fashion jewelry promotion, she said, “We have always been friends. Not many have seen us bonding, that’s why they get surprised.” She also added saying, “She is a great person.”

There were rumors of the two at being at loggerheads during the release of the 2010 film “Anjaana Anjaani”. The film starred then Deepika’s boyfriend Ranbir and Priyanka. If there had been any truth in the rumors about these two actresses, they seem to have put that phase behind now.

Deepika Padukone has a long list of films coming up this year. She has “Race 2”, “Ram Leela”, “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani” and “Chennai Express” in her kitty.

Deepika says, “This year will be special. I’ve never been so busy. But I am not complaining.”

Last year something similar had been the case with Bipasha Basu and Sonam Kapoor. The two bonded majorly while filming “Players” together.

Sonam had then said, “Something very similar between us is that we can't keep our mouths shut. We just talk about ourselves. We are one of those girls who just want to talk about ourselves.”

Bipasha too added to this saying, “Abhishek (Bachchan) gets tired because we talk to each other and keep talking about ourselves.”

She also added, “As you see we are not having any catfights, Abhishek told us we are not making enough news because we are not fighting!" She also did not shy away from saying, “I really like to listen what Sonam talks about, so I sometimes keep quiet. I used to think I am very talkative, my friends even given me a name 'talkathon. But when I met Sonam, I realized there is someone who talks more than me.”

Thus it seems that it is time that the audiences and the media accept that friendship between actresses can be rare but not impossible.
