Deepika Padukone replaces Katrina Kaif as L’Oreal ambassador

Deepika Padukone has replaced Katrina Kaif as the international brand ambassador for cosmetic giant L’Oreal. The ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ actress endorsed the French brand, but she parted ways with it to launch her own retail venture, a report in Mid-day stated.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor are the Indian celebrity ambassadors of the Brand. Aishwarya has been face of L’Oreal Paris since 2000, while Sonam has been associated with it for five years. Both the actress, along with Katrina and other international celebs have represented the cosmetics brand at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival held annually.

Reportedly, Deepika had eying the spot for a long time and sending feelers to the brand officials to sign her. In fact, she has even agreed to slash her fees for endorsing the brand.

Deepika has garnered an international fan-following with her maiden Hollywood release ‘xXx: The Return of Xander Cage’, starring Vin Diesel. She also attended the Golden Globes after party held earlier this month and also appeared on popular American talk show ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’. Her new position as L’Oreal brand ambassador is likely to open up more avenues in international showbiz, as she will get to rub shoulders with who’s who of Hollywood when she represents the brand at Cannes.

Popular celebrities like Jane Fonda, Eva Longoria, Naomi Watts, Blake Lively, Zoe Saldana among others are also associated with L’Oreal and represent it at French Riviera every year.

If the report is indeed true, then Deepika to might walk the red carpet at Cannes. However, she has already made her debut at the film festival in 2010, when she stunned in a sari, while promoting a liquor brand.
