Deepika Padukone gives a new spin to Saif-Kareena’s ‘Raabta’ song

Deepika Padukone is also a part of Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon starrer film ‘Raabta’. The dimpled beauty of Bollywood has reportedly shot for a special song for the movie. A few months ago, there were reports that Deepika had shot for an item number for the film, but it turns out that she shot for the title track of the romantic drama.

‘Raabta’ is the directorial debut of Dinesh Vijan, who has produced films like ‘Love Aaj Kal’, ‘Cocktail’, ‘Agent Vinod’ and ‘Badlapur’ among others. In fact, the title of his directorial is derived from the popular romantic number from Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer ‘Agent Vinod’. The same track has been recreated as the title song of the film.

Deepika has already shot for the song in Budapest a few months back. The song originally penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya, has been composed by Pritam, the composer of the original song.

The director was quoted as saying, “Since the title was conceptualised first, I wanted to use the song in this movie. I was having an elaborate discussion with Pritam one day and we both decided to use the track. It also happens to be one of Deepika's favourites.”

Dinesh further revealed that the romantic track had already been mixed. The recreated version of the song will be completely different from the original and they had experimented with the orchestration and music arrangements. He even indicated that the track will have fresh lyrics.

“We have retained the same hook line, though. We have played around with the musical arrangement and the orchestration. We even have new lyrics for the song. Fans of the last one will be in for a pleasant surprise,” the director added.

The original song already had three versions in the soundtrack of ‘Agent Vinod’ in the vocals of Arijit Singh, Joi Borua, Hamsika Iyer and Aditi Singh Sharma. Although the movie failed at the box-office, the song was a hit due to its soulful lyrics.

‘Raabta’ is slated to hit screens on June 9, 2017.
