Deepika Padukone beats Priyanka Chopra to bag Indo-Chinese project
Actresses Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra have spread their wings in the international market and are the top contenders for international projects. While Deepika’s maiden Hollywood film ‘xXx: The Return of Xander Cage’ released last month, Priyanka’s Hollywood debut ‘Baywatch’ will hit screens in May.
Reportedly, Deepika has already bagged her second international project, overtaking Priyanka in the race. Filmmaker Siddharth Anand was considering to cast either of the two actresses for his upcoming Indo-Chinese movie, and it seems like the ‘Chennai Express’ actress has been finalised for the role, according to a report in Filmfare.
The Indo-Chinese film will also star Chinese actor Deng Chao, who has starred in films like ‘The Mermaid’ and ‘Devil and Angel’.
"Yes, it’s a cross-cultural romance set in Beijing. I’m excited to explore and showcase another culture through this film. Our Chinese producers have suggested Deng Chao’s name but we will take a final call when I visit China," the popular magazine had quoted Siddharth as saying. The director also added, "The film will have an A-list actress who already has an international presence, so it could possibly be one of them."
However, there has not been any official confirmation in this regard.
Meanwhile, Deepika’s Hollywood film co-starring Vin Diesel failed to make an impact at the box-office. She is currently working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Padmavati’, which also stars Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and Aditi Rao Hydari.
On the other hand, Priyanka’s Hollywood film, starring Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron among others, will see her in a negative role. The film will release on May 26. She is already winning hearts with her American television series ‘Quantico 2’.
