Deepika and Kareena's cold war continues?

Reports have been doing the rounds for some time now, about Madhur Bhandarkar considering Deepika Padukone for his next film. Although the director has been silent about his next leading lady there were some rumours about him approaching Kareena for the role as well.

Deepika is riding high, after proving her mettle and delivering four successive hits last year. At present, she has become the most sought after leading lady of all directors. Deepika is now a threat to actors who are senior to her like Kareena Kapoor Khan.

According to media buzz, Deepika had earlier grabbed some of Kareena’s major films such as ‘Ram Leela’, ‘Chennai Express’ and reportedly also Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’.

The director has previously worked with Kapoor in ‘Heroine’, whereas he is yet to work with Deepika, who has given several block-buster films. Both the actresses’ have their hands full, but none of them want to let this chance go.

According to sources, Madhur has approached both the ladies, but is yet to make his final decision.

A source close to the director reportedly said, “Kareena and Madhur have worked in ‘Heroine’. The film might not have succeeded but they continue to be good friends. As a filmmaker, Madhur will cast an actor only if they suit the character. He’ll take a final call soon on who he wants to sign. He has been in talks with a few actors but no one has been finalised yet.”

His next film will definitely be a challenge for Madhur. Follwoing the ‘Heroine’ debacle, featuring a superstar such as Kareena, Madhur would definitely not like to mend his errors in his new film.

According to the media buzz, both Deepika and Kareena have liked the script. But only time will tell who become Madhur’s heroine this time round.

Madhur Bhandarkar is a director, script writer, and producer and is best known for his films such as ‘Chandni Bar’ in 2001, ‘Page 3’ in 2005, ‘Traffic Signal’ in 2007, ‘Fashion’ in 2008 and ‘Heroine’ in 2012. The director won the National Award for Best Director for ‘Traffic Signal’.

In most of Madhur’s films, the protagonist is female — Tabu in ‘Chandni Bar’, Konkona Sen Sharma in ‘Page 3’, Bipasha Basu in ‘Corporate’, Priyanka Chopra in ‘Fashion’ and Kareena Kapoor in ‘Heroine’. He has also portrayed gay characters in his movies such as ‘Page 3’, ‘Traffic Signal’ and ‘Fashion’.
