Countdown begins: Shahid shares his shell-shocked still from ‘Rangoon’

The countdown for Shahid Kapoor’s next release ‘Rangoon’ has begun. The Vishal Bhardwaj-directorial is set to hit theatres on February 24. Exactly a month ahead, on January 24, the ‘Udta Punjab’ actor shared a fierce-looking still of him from the movie, while reminding about the release date.

“24th Feb,” Shahid wrote with the picture which has him stained in blood and grime with an expression of fierceness and shock, in get-up of a soldier in times of war. Shahid plays the role of Sergeant Nawab Malik in the film which also stars Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut, who play a filmmaker and a film star, respectively.

‘Rangoon’ is a love-triangle set in the backdrop of World War II, and comes with the tagline, ‘Love, war, deceit’. The trailer released earlier this month and was very much appreciated. Two songs are also out.

It is Shahid’s third collaboration with the National Award winning filmmaker and composer, after ‘Kaminey’ and ‘Haider’, while Saif teamed up for the second time, after ‘Omkara’. Kangana and Vishal worked for the first time.

Shahid recently, bagged the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor for his performance of a drug-addict Rockstar in ‘Udta Punjab’, and from the trailer, it is evident that in ‘Rangoon’ too, he is set to rock.

Meanwhile, he is also working for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’, alongside Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Aditi Rao Hydari.
