Confirmed: Alia Bhatt to play singer in ‘Aashiqui 3’
Director Mohit Suri has confirmed that Alia Bhatt will play a singer in his next directional venture, ‘Aashiqui 3’, the third installment of the successful franchise ‘Aashiqui’. In the romantic-tragic drama, Mohit Suri has roped in his cousin Alia Bhatt and her rumoured boyfriend Sidharth Malhotra.
Speaking to hitlist, Mohit said, "Since it is part of the 'Aashiqui' franchise, Alia is playing a singer." Mohit is still working on ‘Aashiqui 3’ script and he is currently busy with ‘Half friend’ with Sharddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapoor.
The director is yet to decide when to start ‘Aashiqui 3’ as ‘Half girlfriend’ has more to go.
Alia’s sister Shaheen Bhatt penned the script. Mohit is looking into the final draft and is going to make some changes in Sid’s role.
Earlier, there were talks that Hrithik Roshan and Sonam Kapoor will be roped in for the third part but in March Sid confirmed that he is doing ‘Aashiqui 3’ with Alia.
This will be Alia and Sidharth’s third film together after their debut venture, ‘Student of the year’ and ‘Kapoor & Sons’ and for the first time they will be directed by Mohit Suri.
‘Aashiqui’ is owned by the Bhatt family. The original musical blockbuster starring Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal was directed by Mahesh Bhatt and then Mohit Suri directed Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor in the second part that released in 2013.
