Colors TV bars Diljit Dosanjh from promoting ‘Phillauri’ on Kapil’s show?

Anushka Sharma is currently busy promoting her upcoming film ‘Phillauri’. The actress recently visited the sets of the popular ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ for the same. However, the odd thing was she made a solo appearance and her co-star Diljit Dosanjh was missing.

Reportedly, Diljit wasn’t able to promote the film on Kapil’s show due to his contract with Colors TV, where he is currently a judge of singing talent show ‘Rising Star’.

The animosity between Kapil and the management of Colors TV is well known. The popular stand-up comedian used to host his erstwhile show ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ on Colors, but after tiff with the channel, he switched over to a rival channel – Sony, with a new show. But, the bitterness between Kapil and the channel continues, and Diljit seems to be paying the price for it. The ‘Udta Punjab’ actor is bound by his contract not to appear on Kapil’s show.

Colors' CEO Raj Nayak had earlier in an interview spoke about what went wrong between Kapil and the channel. He had said that Kapil found it difficult to manage his success, which came after his show ‘Comedy Nights…’ became immensely popular.

"Kapil started renegotiating and asking for more money which we gave, but the more important and worrying thing was that he violated his contract by hosting shows on competitive channels in spite of having an exclusive contract with Colors TV, which we felt was not ethical," Raj had said.

Directed by Anshai Lal, 'Phillauri' is Anushka's second production venture after 2015 film ‘NH10’, and also stars Suraj Sharma of ‘Life of Pi’ fame, and marks the debut of model Mehreen Pirzada. It is set to hit the theatres on March 24.
