Cleavage Controversy: Ranveer supports ladylove Deepika

It seems that the media in India is also leaning more on yellow journalism that is getting more and more obscene every day. It is something ‘chat pata’ that sells quicker than something which follows the drab old truthful guidelines. This is true for fast foods as well as the media. For a long long time the media has been exploiting the sensuality of the Bollywood divas in the name of entertainment. This is nothing new and something which the Bollywood actresses had come to terms with.

However, the bold publishers were caught unguarded when Deepika decided to raise her voice against the malpractice. It all begun when the website of a national daily published a video named, 'OMG! Deepika's cleavage show'. The video showcased the cleavage of Deepika as the photos were taken from an elevated angle.

Deepika retorted back with series of statements like, "I have spoken out against an ideology that such regressive tactics are still being employed to draw a reader’s attention at a time when we are striving for women’s equality and empowerment."

Deepika said, "In a time where women should be applauded for making headway in a male-dominated society, we blur the lines between REEL and REAL life and dilute all our efforts by making a one-year old back sliding piece of news a headline.” She even said, “Yes we marvel, envy and drool over a male actors 8pack abs in a film, but do we zoom in on the mans 'crotch' when he makes a public appearance and make that 'cheap headlines'??!!"

The entire Bollywood film fraternity stood beside Deepika and supported her stand. However, the tabloid cheekily stated that, "It's a compliment! You look so great that we want to make sure everyone knew! :)" We shudder in horror to think that if it is a compliment from the tabloid, then what their criticism would be like.

Recently Ranveer Singh who is Deepika’s good friend openly supported the actress, as he Tweeted, "@deepikapadukone way to let em know! #LikeABoss @TOIEntertain TUM se yeh ummeed nahi thi #SMH #owned," some time back. And when a website spoke to the actor about the same, Ranveer said, "I have a stand which I have already established on Twitter; and after that, Deepika has also put out a final word. I think the topic should be left at that; we should respect that. Somebody has put out a final word; but personally, as a friend of Deepika, I am very proud that she stood up against something wrong. I also was very happy to see the sheer amount of support there was for her. I think we should just focus on her work, which is the primary reason that there is this whole brouhaha."
