Chargesheet files against Saif for hotel brawl

Colaba police has filed chargesheet against Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan for involving in a brawl with South African businessman Iqbal Sharma when he was partying with his family. Saif was partying with his close pals Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi and girlfriend Kareena Kapoor. Saif and Iqbal entangled in a heated argument and when situation went out of control, they got physical.

Following the brawl, Iqbal and his wife filed complaint against the actor at Colaba police station. The 120 page chargeshhet said that Saif and his friends punched Raman Patel and his businessman son-in-law, Iqbal Meer Sharma, fracturing the latter’s nose. CCTV footage and medical reports were also submitted by police and 29 witnesses have been reported in the court. The witnesses said that they saw Saif and his friends manhandled Sharma.

"Mumbai's Colaba police station filed a chargesheet against Khan in a metropolitan magistrate court Thursday," Deputy Commissioner of Police Ravindra Shishwe told reporters here Friday.

"The chargesheet has been filed with regard to a complaint registered against him for assaulting an NRI businessman Feb 22," he added.

The incident took place at Wasabi Restaurant at the Taj Mahal Hotel. On Feb 22 Saif with Amrohi and Ladak were arrested for assaulting the NRI businessman but later they were released on bail.

Saif was accused of punching Sharma and Ladak and Bilala reportedly hit Sharma's father-in-law Raman Patel.

However, when Sharma lodged complaint at Colaba police station, Saif and his friends reportedly denied any such allegations.
