‘Chandni Bar’ actor Vishal Thakkar accused of rape, assault


Bollywood actor Vishal Thakkar has been booked on alleged rape and assault charges. A case was registered with Charkop police station by Vishal’s live-in partner. In her complaint, the girl said Vishal raped her in pretext of marriage.

The actor has been booked under IPC sections 376 (rape), 420 (cheating), 323, 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 506 (criminal intimidation).

The victim is a 26-year-old actress has worked in several TV serials. The couple has been dating for quite sometime and was in a live-in relationship. Troubled brewed between them when Vishal started to misbehave with her and established relationship with another woman. The girl then left the actor and started living with a friend.

She alleged that two days ago Thakkar came to her friend’s house, apologized her for his deeds and convinced her to get back together. He stayed with her at her friend’s place that night where he assaulted her and later raped her.

“Following t he woman’s statement, we have registered a rape case and several other relevant sections of the Indian penal code have been added,” said Ramchandra Gaikwad, senior i nspector, Charkop police station. “We are looking for him and will arrest him soon,” Gaikwad added.

Thakkar has done small roles in movies like ‘Tango Charlie’ and ‘Chandni Bar’. He now appears in telly soap, ‘Taarak Mehta ka Oolta Chashma’. No arrest has been made so far.
