Celebrities Who Were Plus Sized Before Joining Bollywood
Pooja Makhija, a renowned Bollywood dietician has recently launched her book Eat.Delete. The contents of the book are as interesting as the title. She stresses on the fact that to remain on the slimmer side, you do not need crash dieting. Rather she suggests eating every two hours (healthy food of course) to keep those extra flabs at bay. But a healthy diet also requires a good fitness regime if you want to look as gorgeous as your screen idols. She shares the experiences of some Bollywood celebrities who have been her clients throughout the years and she has witnessed them turning fit from fat.
1.Kareena Kapoor
She stunned Bollywood with her Bikini shot in
Tashan but Bebo was not always a size zero. In fact, most of her films had her
in her chubby avatar. She blamed it on her love for rich Punjabi food, Biryanis
and Payah. However she was successful in following her nutritionist Rujuta
Diwekar’s routine and shed her puppy fats. She followed the rule of eating
every two hours and hit the gym regularly.
Looking at her figure now, nobody can guess that this Bollywood Diva was once so overweight that Sanjay Leela Bhansali wasn’t willing to cast her in Saawariya unless she lost some kgs. Sonam Kapoor initially used to starve herself to become skinny but her dietician showed her the cons of crash dieting. After that Sonam turned to healthy eating and workouts and lost 32kgs before she made her debut. The actress has managed to remain skinny ever since.
3.Sonakshi Sinha
She
was a junk foodie and lived on fast food only. All this was before Salman Khan
spotted her at an event and insisted her to lose weight so that she could be
cast opposite him in Dabang. He changed her eating schedules and habits and
made her work her muscles out so that she could be screen ready. She lost 30
kgs after that now looks amazingly healthy and fit.
4.Ekta Kapoor
Ekta
Kapoor, the queen of soap opera had been really overweight before she started
her crash dieting and starving routines. Although Pooja detests the use of
these measures, she admitted that Ekta now tries to stay healthy by eating the
right food at the right time. She even indulges in a bit of squash to keep the
fitness meter running.
5.Arjun Kapoor
Arjun
Kapoor of Ishaqzade fame is actually Sonam Kapoor’s cousin and like her, he too
had to gym his way to Bollywood. In four years he lost as much as 50 kilos by
following a Crossfit fitness regime. Pooja says that men are genetically
programmed to be able to lose weight faster than women. Arjun kept a control
over his carbs and increased the protein intake during his rigorous work out
days. The result is visible to everyone who has watched his 2012 release
Ishaqzade.
6.Jackky Bhagnani
This
guy should top the list, having lost 75 kilos before his debut in Faltu in
2011. He needed a lot of motivation which his trainer provided and workouts
teemed with healthy eating habits helped Jackky shed his extra pounds. Pooja
adds that Jackky was very sincere when it came to diet routines and he took
dance classes alongside his Crossfit Regime.
7.Karan Johar
This
film maker used to be chubby like a teddy bear before he started following a
strict diet routine. Being a film maker, he hardly gets time to hit the gym but
Pooja says that Karan tries a lot to keep fit and works out whenever time.
Pooja believes
that by following her book everyone can gain an insight to what dieting really
is and live a healthy life ever after.
