She was sent to remand home after the actress was caught in a sex racket by police in a raid.

Although I had already put the incident behind me there was still a closure that I needed to put on the issue. All my earlier charges from the trial court have been withdrawn. I can’t describe the relief I feel. It’s like my name has been cleared after months of doubt and suspicion. I now see how futile and unnecessary the whole episode was. I am glad to be alive and kicking and raring to go. Life looks beautiful and hopeful. My only regret is I was put on trial by a section of the media. I should’ve been given the right to defend myself. Never mind. Now that my name has been cleared, I hold no grudges against anyone”, she added.

Shweta Basu Prasad is back to work. She has recently joined Anurag Kahsyap's production house Phantom as a script consultant and many more opportunities are coming her way. It seems life is smiling on Shweta yet again.

Shweta Basu Prasad was caught up in a controversy earlier this year when she was caught in an alleged prostitution racket. In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Shweta opens up about the incident and denies being forced into prostitution. She was caught in an ompromising position during a ploce raid in a hotel in Hyderabad. Denying all the allegations, Shweta said, "I had gone to Hyderabad to attend an awards function, the Santosham Awards, and the organisers had paid for my air-fare and hotel stay. It was my bad luck that I decided to stay on an extra day to meet my friends which is when the raid happened," said Shweta to Mumbai Mirror."I don't understand how I got into such a big mess. I was not doing drugs, I was not murdering someone... people are so interested (only) because they think here's some sex, some suffering and someone with a name [sic]," she adds.
