Case against Shah Rukh for damaging rly property during ‘Raees’ promotion

A criminal case has been lodged against superstar Shah Rukh Khan for allegedly “rioting, unlawful assembly, damaging public property and obstructing a railway official during the promotion of his film ‘Raees’.

The actor, along with the film’s team had travelled by August Kranti Express from Mumbai to Delhi last month, to promote ‘Raees’. During the journey, the train halted at stations like Surat, Bharuch, Vadodra, Ratlam and Kota among other.

The Government Railway Police, Kota registered the case against the actor on Monday following a complaint by Vikram Singh, who runs a tea stall in Kota railway station. In his complaint, Vikram, 32, said that the train with Shah Rukh abroad it arrived at the station at 5 am on January 24, and the actor’s fans created a ruckus. The complainant also alleged that the actor didn’t get down from the train, but waved to the crowd from the gate of the coach and threw gifts at them, who rushed to grab it. This caused a stampede-like situation at the platform, and in the melee, public property, including his stall were damaged and he too got injured.

Vikram Singh lodged the complaint with the additional chief judicial magistrate, railway court, which forwarded it to the Kota GRP police station for investigation.

Shah Rukh has been booked under sections 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of Rs 50), 120(b) (criminal conspiracy), 147 (rioting), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed) and 160 (committing affray) of IPC. And also under sections 145 (nuisance) and 146 (obstructing railway servant in his duties) of Railway Act, and section 3 (mischief causing damage to public property0 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, an official said.

Investigation into the matter has been initiated.
