‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ earns Rs. 100 cr worldwide
Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan starrer ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ is getting good response at the box-office and has already made over Rs. 100 crore worldwide. The romantic comedy, which released on March 10 ahead of Holi, will be completing it first week in theatres today, (March 16).
The movie got off to a good start and minted Rs. 12. 25 crore on opening day Friday. It witnessed a growth over the next two days, earning Rs. 14.75 crore on Saturday and another RS. 16.05 crore on Sunday, taking its first weekend total to Rs. 43.05 crore.
With the festive spirit of Holi extending to March 13, on its first Monday, the film collected Rs. 12.08 crore. Tuesday’s earnings saw a dip at Rs. 7.15 crore, while it raked in Rs. seven crore on Wednesday, collecting a total of Rs. 69.28 crore in six days at the domestic box office.
The film released in around 3000 screens and 550 overseas, where also it has managed to perform well, earning approximately 18 crores so far.
‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ with its domestic and international figures, now stands with a collection of Rs. 105.71 crores at the worldwide box office, according to Koimoi. The film’s was made on an estimated budget of around Rs. 45 crore, including Rs. 30 crore for production cost and Rs. 15 crore for promotions and advertisements, which it has already recovered, and is now making profits.
Directed by Shashank Khaitan, ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ is the sequel to Varun and Alia’s 2014 hit ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’. The film is set in small town where the patriarchal mindset is very much evident. The film highlights the issues of gender inequality and dowry system in an entertaining way.
