British actor Jason Connery with Katrina Kaif in ‘Namaste London’
Vipul Shah’s film ‘Namaste London’ will star British actor Jason Connery as the second lead in the film. The British actor will play the second romantic interest opposite Katrina Kaif. Jason Connery is the son of Hollywood legend, Sean Connery. Vipul Shah’s film is loosely based on the classic ‘Purab Aur Paschim’.
Vipul Shah will approach, Jason for the second lead role in the film, which will be shot mainly in contemporary London. Vipul Shah says, “We are in talks with Jason Connery for the role. I will be leaving for London shortly to finalise it. He was very excited at the prospect of working in a Hindi film.” Vipul Shah claims that there is a genuine interest and high awareness of the Hindi film industry and its works among Hollywood actors.
The film that set a precedent for bollywood films to enlist Hollywood actors was ‘Mangal Pandey’. In the film British actor, Toby Stephens played a prominent role, alongside Aamir Khan. Also, many Hollywood actresses have been seen in character roles and item songs in bollywood films. Now the trend of bollywood actors signing Hollywood films has also become quite popular. Aishwarya Rai will soon be seen in international films, Mistress of Spices, Provoked and The Last Legion. Sushmita Sen is also working on an international project titled Karma and Konfessions. Producers and directors from Hollywood and bollywood want to capture talent and potential irrespective of geographical boundaries.
Vipul Shah’s film ‘Namaste London’ is an Indo-British project with a contemporary topic that deals with both Britons and Indian NRI’s living in London. Vipul says, “It’s a love story about how today’s Indian youth both in India and England perceive love.” The film will star Vipul’s lucky mascot, Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Rishi Kapoor, newcomer Upen Patel and six British actors. ‘Namaste London’ will be made on an estimated big budget of around 25 crores. The film will be shot in a two-month schedule in London and will begin in June.
