‘Welcome Back’ earns 50 crore in the first weekend


Anees Bazmee’s ‘Welcome Back’ opened with mixed review but it start off well making an opening day collection of Rs 14.35 crore. Despite lack of star presence, the film has been able to establish its position at the third slot after Salman Khan's ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ which collected Rs 27.25 on the opening day and Akshay Kumar's ‘Brother’ which collected Rs 15.2 crore on the opening day.

The movie showed a jump on Saturday. Screened over 3,500 theatres  in India and around 500 screens in the international markets, John Abraham starrer ‘Welcome Back’ earned 17.05 crore at the Box Office on Saturday.

Talking about the movie, Taran Adarsh reported on Twitter, ''#WelcomeBack witnesses an UPWARD TREND on Sat. Biz is ROCKING. Fri 14.35 cr, Sat 17.05 cr. Total: ? 31.40 cr. India biz.''

Taran Adarsh also wrote about Welcome Back's performance in overseas market, ''#WelcomeBack has a SOLID start Overseas. Thu+Fri: $ 1.2 million [? 8 cr]. SUPERB!''

The film which does not have any other competitor at the box-office made a superb collection of Rs.50 Crores at the domestic box-office itself in the first week.

The comedy flick ‘Welcome Back’ which is a sequel to 2007 hit film ‘Welcome’ stars John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar and Shruti Haasan in the lead roles.  

The film revolves around two brothers Uday Bhai and Manju Bhai have left the underworld, and have started their own business ventures. They are on a lookout for a spouse to marry their sister Ranjana (Shruti Haasan), who accidentally falls in love with a gangster, Ajju Bhai (John Abraham). The film revolves around the lives of these gangsters and their sister's blooming romance with Ajju.
